D&D: House Rules – Ability/Skill Checks and Helping

Ability/Skill Checks

Piling up on ability checks is problematic. The character with the highest score and with proficiency is welcome to make a role for the party. Depending on check, it usually would take a minimum of 10 minutes before attempting a re-roll of the ability check.

In some instances, it may make sense for each character to roll, but that is the exception.

Helping

Helping provides the character rolling by providing advantage on the role. In order to help with an ability check, both characters must be proficient with the skill.
